About

Creating Safety, Healing Trauma

Hello, My name is Meghan Kiernan and I am a trauma specialist and Licensed Professional Counselor. I have my Masters in Art Therapy with a Concentration in Counseling from Mount Mary University in Milwaukee Wisconsin. I have worked at Rogers Behavioral Health since 2016 and joined the adult Trauma-Recovery team in West Allis after finding a personal draw to trauma work on the adolescent and adult units. During my time in these programs I learned and was trained in techniques such as Prolonged Exposure therapy, in-vivo exposures, TF-CBT, CPT and schema therapy. I also specialize in the neurodivergent brain and am passionate about treating and understanding clients on an individual basis to find the modality that best fits each person and their specific trauma history. When first beginning with a client I prefer to work together to identify your goals for therapy and reassess as needed during our time together. This may look like identifying traumas, treating specific symptoms of trauma, identifying schemas, psychoeducation on trauma and the brain or a mix of these depending on your needs and goals for treatment. My goal as a provider is to create a space where you feel safe to talk about your experiences, ask questions and create a meaningful, compassionate relationship with yourself.
